Resort Pickup & Arrival at Mida Creek (03:00 PM)
Afternoon pickup from your Watamu hotel. Arrive at the edge of Mida Creek, a protected UNESCO biosphere reserve spanning 32 square kilometers of tidal saltwater channels.
Suspended Mangrove Canopy Boardwalk Walk
Walk across the famous 260-meter-long suspended rope boardwalk ('Indiana Jones Walkway') weaving through towering mangrove trees above the tidal inlet, managed by the local community.
Flamingo & Water Bird Watching (04:15 PM)
Observe thousands of migratory wading birds including greater and lesser flamingos, crab plovers, herons, and kingfishers feeding in the nutrient-rich mudflats and shallow lagoons.
Traditional Wooden Canoe Cruise (05:15 PM)
Board traditional wooden dug-out canoes guided by local boatmen through tranquil mangrove labyrinth channels. Glide silently across mirror-smooth waters as the tide gently flows in.
Sunset Aperitif on the Creek Sandbank (06:00 PM)
Stop on an exposed sandbar in the middle of the creek. Watch the spectacular sun dip below the mangrove horizon while enjoying fresh samosas, fresh coconuts ('madafu'), and tropical refreshments.
Return to Watamu Resort (06:45 PM)
Disembark from the canoes and return to your resort by 7:00 PM with peaceful memories of the Kenyan coastal wilderness.
